Creative Project: Exalt

We came back from our trip to Brazil landing right back home in the UK at the start of the lockdown due to Covid-19. In this strange time of staying at home we began to notice the flooding of social media with so much content, the world suddenly became increasingly ‘online’. With many church services going online, meetings turning into Zoom calls and FaceTimes, and an endless stream of content going out - I began to think about what our creative project’s theme could be this time around. As I opened my Bible Psalm 34 caught my attention.

I will bless the Lord at all times;
his praise shall continually be in my mouth.
My soul makes its boast in the Lord;
let the humble hear and be glad.
Oh, magnify the Lord with me,
and let us exalt his name together!
— Psalm 34:1-3

These words really resonated me and I thought what better time to spend creatively than exalting the Lord ‘together’. We may be isolated and distancing from others, but we’re still able to create things together, to express worship with our creativity together. And however crazy the world may seem, as the Psalm says, we will bless the Lord at all times.

And so, below you will find a collection of art, songs, instrumentals, collages, photos, illustrations and more from believers around the world. We hope it will encourage you as you look through the various creative expressions of this theme.

“I was just filled with joy and singing as I read the psalm and as I worked on this piece. May this art encourage everyone to exalt God despite this "valley" the world is in. Let us exalt Him together.” @timoymagnooo

“The dagger represents affliction, the bones are barren and exposed but still intact, and the flowers are the life that comes from hardship and the hope we have in affliction. It's so comforting to know that refinement is His mercy and love, and submission to such refinement leads to joy and freedom in Him, despite such circumstances.” @3e.designs
